About the .IN Registry Transition
Since January 2005, the the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has been authorized by the Indian Government to operate the .IN country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD) Registry.
NIXI is a Not-for-Profit Company under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act, 1956, with the objective of facilitating improved Internet services in the country. Under NIXI, the INRegistry functions as an autonomous body with primary responsibility for maintaining the .IN ccTLD and ensuring its operational stability, reliability, and security.
A new Registry for a new age of success
In September 2018, NIXI announced Neustar had been selected to provide back-end Registry services for the .IN domain namespace. The transition of the .IN Registry to Neustar’s backend technology is expected to take place in late February.
